Mae and her family (Thunder Ridge Bassets) were fantastic and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to get a puppy, especially a Basset Hound puppy! You could tell how much they cared and how knowledgeable they were. I was searching for my first ever puppy that would be completely my own and I had already made up my mind on a Basset Hound some time before. I finally made the jump in the Summer of 2025. Mae had a few puppies listed at that time that caught my eye, so I completed my application and I asked for some additional pictures and videos to help me narrow down the choice for which puppy I was going to place the deposit on. Mae responded to my questions promptly and was very helpful and polite, not pushy at all, and you could tell that she cared about her puppies and the homes that they were going to. She had great pictures and videos at a local park that showed the puppies at their best. Once I placed the (very reasonably priced) deposit on the puppy of my choice, we worked out a plan for pickup. I reside in AZ and Mae is Idaho/Oregon border so we worked out the details for my flight and where best to meet. They also offered to begin calling my puppy by name once I had it picked out. On my travel day, I had some unexpected changes happen to my rental car reservation and Mae and her husband worked with me quickly to find a solution. They offered to accommodate in any way that would make it easiest for me which I greatly appreciated. Luckily, I got my itinerary worked out and that afternoon we met in person and I took my adorable, healthy puppy, who is named Heidi, home with me. They also brought Heidi's mother along for me to meet and you could tell she was healthy, loved, and well cared for. They gave me a travel bag with all of the essentials and much more. The bag consisted of a generous amount of the puppy's current food, a box of 6 brand new squeaker toys, training treats, a big stuffed animal, a travel bowl, 2 bandanas, 3 blankets (1 blanket with the scent of home), her favorite rope chew toy from home, and a binder with all the important papers and some helpful information. Specifically, the binder included AKC papers (with breeding rights), vaccination records, microchip information, and pamphlets for recommended supplements. Heidi had a colored collar on her already as well, which was how they kept track of the puppies on the listings. For example, Heidi was listed as Pink. They also gave me some really helpful information as a first time Basset owner. They told me that Heidi had come from a huge litter of 12 puppies! However, she had still been well socialized, was really good about using potty mats, and had a great introduction to name recognition and manners. Mae and her family clearly dedicated a lot of time and have a passion about what they do. The whole experience was so great and Mae made bringing a new member into my family as easy as could be. As of December 2025, my puppy is healthy as could be and growing like a weed. Thank you again for everything!
