“At Portland Goldendoodles, we believe that finding the right puppy is about much more than choosing a color or coat. Our goal is to create lifelong matches by pairing each puppy with the family that best fits their personality, energy level, and lifestyle. We spend the first several weeks getting to know each puppy individually. Through daily handling, socialization, enrichment activities, and structured temperament evaluations, we learn each puppy's unique strengths, confidence level, and personality traits. When it's time for selections, we consider factors such as: Activity level and lifestyle Experience with dogs Presence of young children or other pets Desired temperament (calm, outgoing, adventurous, cuddly, etc.) Service, therapy, or emotional support goals (when appropriate) Grooming and training expectations Temperament testing helps guide the matching process, but it is only one part of our evaluation. We combine formal assessments with the knowledge we've gained from raising each puppy every day. Families select their puppies in reservation order whenever possible. We provide guidance throughout the process and will always share our honest recommendations if we believe another puppy would be a better fit for your home. Our priority is ensuring both the puppy and the family have the greatest opportunity for a successful, lifelong relationship. While coat color and markings are exciting, we encourage families to focus first on temperament and compatibility. A puppy's personality is what will bring joy to your home for years to come.
