I'm Jeremy M., the breeder behind Tijuca Ridgebacks located in Omaha, NE. When we bring a life into the world, we take that responsibility seriously. We put a strong emphasis on temperament & we select the pup that best fits your home, lifestyle & personalities. Any dog from our program is a part of our pack for life, and we will have a home for them always if needed.
Q. & A. with Jeremy
Why did you start breeding?
We've owned RR for 25+ years. We started our current pack with the intent of supporting this breed via performance & conformation events. Our passion for RR's has made us grow into responsible preservation breeders.
What makes your program special?
Our journey for the last decade has been shadowing and working with several RR & other sight hound breed ambassadors and mentors that have shared their knowledge and experiences with us. If we don't "know" we have a network of advisors who can help us "figure" it out. We focus on temperament and help your pups become enrichment seekers. We try and help pups to overcome fears & obstacles so they can be wonderful companions & relaxed in society. The care and attention that we put into these pups to prepare them for their journey can be followed on our social sites and can be seen in the pups. It truly makes a difference.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
