I'm Cindy M., the breeder behind Timberview Farm Lapponian Herders located in Marcola, OR. We work hard to produce healthy, well-rounded Lapponian Herder puppies that can make others as happy as our dogs have made us! We cherish each of our dogs and puppies, and we do everything we can to make sure that they get the best lives possible. That includes everything from choosing healthy parents with good temperaments, to proper socialization and daily care, to placing them in loving homes with wonderful families. We strive to provide each of our puppies and their families with a truly positive experience!
Q. & A. with Cindy
Why did you start breeding?
Was looking for a dog or dogs that could deter cougars. Wanted Lapponian Herders due to what I read online, but could not find a breeder in the US. Finally did track down a breeder & I was able to purchase 2 females, and they work as a team to deter. No cougar problems since I brought them in at 4 mths of age. My 2 girls are rare browns, and I agreed upon purchase to breed them twice.
What makes your program special?
I check compatibly in health records, dna, pedigrees before breeding. Once pups arrive, I work with them daily to get to know their strengths. I want to learn what these pups will shine at and then find a home for them to match their instinctive skills. Pups are introduced to assorted livestock, noises, textures etc evaluating what they are comfortable with so matching with owners is successful.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Aarre, mom
Lapponian Herder
About Aarre
Aarre has a Wolf coat coloring. She appears black at first glance, but her coat is made up of a millions colors. Blond undercoat,
Aarre is a hoot. She is very independent and at the same time, very loving and snuggly. She absolutely loves her livestock and birds. She's not a barker until there is something serious to back at and deter.
Aarre is an import from Finland.
Ripley, dad
Lapponian Herder
About Ripley
Ripley is a shiny black/brilliant white and very light ivory/tan in a few places. He is fiercely protective and very bonded to his gated area around livestock and house. Take him out of that area and he's a big marshmallow. He won 2022 Oregon Farm Bureau Farm Dog of the Year due to his excellent job keeping cougars and other large & small predators away from "his" bonded ground. Ripley loves dryland mushing, hanging out with his fellow Lapponian Herders and Peanut Butter/Jelly sandwich treats.
