I'm Candice S., the breeder behind TopShelf Dachshunds located in Georgetown, TX. Presenting only AKC Longhair miniature dachshunds. Mostly import lines with a focus showing,conformation,personality and quality. In house family raised and loved. Our dogs shine both in and out of the show ring. We are dedicated to improving our lines with each generation so that the breed will continue to thrive for a long time to come.

Why did you start breeding?
I was head veterinary surgical tech for over 10 years. I worked my way from kennel help, to desk, to tech and finally surgery. I retired to raise a family. When my kids grew and became more self sufficient, I wanted to still stay at home but be with my dogs. It all happened naturally. At home with my children and with the dogs that I love.What makes your program special?
With my knowledge of the medical aspect, I also am a huge fan of genetics. I strive to test and have amazing health genetics as well as conformation, and personality. I really put a lot into my dogs and puppies, my world revolves around them. Most of my dogs are imports and they work really hard in the AKC show ring!What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Dachshund puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Dachshund puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Borzoi puppies are sable. Dachshund puppies include sable, red, chocolate and tan, black and tan, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Getting a puppy from Candice
Candice has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“AKC litter registration, 1st and 2nd round of vaccinations, health exam by my veterinarian, worming. A small deposit will hold your puppy until after it has received its 2nd round of vaccines and exam. The final payment will be due at pick up.”

Candice may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
