  • Why did you start breeding?

    I had an Australian Shepherd for 16 years and she was my soul mate. I always knew I wanted another one day. On my 40th birthday, my husband purchased a red tri mini female for me. We fell in love and bought a male. We never intended to be breeders but we jumped in headfirst. I have spent countless hours studying pedigrees, genetic testing, confirmation, and temperament.

  • What makes your program special?

    All of our parents are health tested and temperament tested and only those that pass our stringent tests will be used for our program. All puppies are raised on puppy curriculum and temperament tested at 7 weeks to ensure that the perfect match has been made. We feel that every puppy and family should be a good fit.

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, red merle, red, and black. Toy Australian Shepherd puppies include red, black, blue merle, and red merle. Australian Shepherd puppies include black, red merle, blue merle, and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Getting a puppy from Michael & Leigh

Michael & Leigh has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Michael & Leigh partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“We understand the excitement of bringing home a specific "look," especially with a breed known for its stunning coat colors. However, our primary mission is ensuring that every puppy thrives in its new home. To balance your preferences with the well-being of our dogs, we follow a structured matching process. 1. Early Reservations (Before 7 Weeks) Because our puppies are in high demand, we accept deposits early in the process. At this stage, you may reserve a puppy based on: - Preferred Gender - Preferred Color/Pattern Deposits are recorded in the order they are received. The first person to place a deposit for a specific color and gender combination will be granted first pick of the puppies that fit that description. 2. The 7-Week Temperament Evaluation We believe that a puppy’s personality is just as important as its appearance. At 7 weeks of age, we conduct professional temperament testing. This allows us to understand each puppy's energy levels, confidence, and social traits. The Perfect Match Principle: We want you to get the puppy of your dreams, but we will never prioritize aesthetics over a successful lifelong match. 3. Selection and Availability Once temperament testing is complete, selections are finalized. If your preferred color or gender is unavailable (due to litter results or temperament compatibility), you have two options: - Switch: Choose an available puppy of a different color or gender from the current litter. - Roll Over: Move your deposit to the first position for our next available litter to ensure you get exactly what you are looking for. Why We Do This A puppy is a 10-to-15-year commitment. By waiting until the 7-week mark to finalize picks, we ensure that a high-energy puppy doesn't go to a low-energy household, and a shy puppy goes to a home prepared to build its confidence. We appreciate your patience in helping us place the right paws in the right hands!”

We ensure daily handling exercises, puppy pre-school, and meticulous daily monitoring of weights to ensure all puppies are thriving. Before your puppy comes home, they undergo a vet clearance, receive their first vaccine, are dewormed, and microchipped. But our commitment doesn't end there. We provide lifetime support on nutrition, training, and problem-solving to help you raise a healthy and happy pet. We also kickstart crate training and potty training, and provide a helpful book to assist you in integrating your new puppy into your family. At Triple Lake Ranch, we believe in providing more than just a pet, we deliver a lifetime companion. When you place a deposit with us, you are securing a spot for a specific color and gender rather than a specific puppy. We understand the excitement of choosing a unique coat, and while we successfully match preferences in most instances, our primary commitment is to the well-being of our puppies. To ensure every puppy finds the right home, we perform temperament testing at seven weeks of age. At that time, we will contact you in the order deposits were received to review the results and select the puppy that best fits your lifestyle. We will never sacrifice the perfect home for the perfect color. If it turns out that no puppy in the current litter is a match for your environment, you will be moved to our next available litter. Our goal is to balance your preferences with our responsibility as breeders, ensuring our puppies have the best life possible and your family receives the steady, lifelong companion you deserve.”

    Michael and Leigh were very responsive and helpful throughout the whole process. I can really tell how much they love their dogs, and how much effort they put into training them. We got a puppy from them for my daughter’s 16th birthday, and from the moment we got him home he has been an angel. He was very well potty trained and took to a leash almost immediately. Overall I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a mini Aussie.

    Leigh was helpful from the get go. My fiance and I were looking for an addition to our home and stumbled upon Good Dog on safari after being disappointed several times over price and distance. Although I cannot put a price on our puppy, Milo, I can definitely say it was reasonable and worth it. On top of that, she kept us updated throughout the very suspenseful weeks leading up to getting Milo. Although we were lucky enough to live only two hours out, we definitely appreciated and took it as a green flag to have several options in case that plan failed. Leigh provided us with a very thorough and detailed book that made the first couple of day a lot easier. We followed it and were able to not only establish a routine but also get Milo crate trained in two days and he’s learned several commands such as “sit,” “shake,” and “let go” when playing fetch. She also provided us with food he was currently on in order to smoothly transition him to a kibble of our choice. Milo was definitely timid on our ride home but Leigh was a text away the entire time and made us feel a lot better when he was behaving shyly. Milo has now been home for over a month and is loved by everyone in our family. He has made a great companion for our nieces and nephews and loves chasing them around the house an in our yard. He’s even established a new nickname of “myo” by our one year old niece who’s learning how to talk and he actually responds to it! Overall, Milo, Michael, and Leigh have improved our life greatly. We hope that the day we choose to add another addition to our family, we can come back to where it started!
