Q. & A. with Heather

  • Why did you start breeding?

We've been breeding for over 20 years though we started breeding basset hounds for the past 5 yrs our daughter always wanted a basset we had & breed other hounds such as, Walkers through out the years but when we got our 1st Basset Hound she stole all of our hearts! So we decided to start sharing a breed with everyone else that had become so close to our hearts!

Had a wonderful experience with Heather, she kept in touch with pics and videos of Alfie, drove him home to me a week after I found him. I’m just over the moon with him, would def recommend Heather for anyone seeking a Bassett hound

We knew we were thinking about adding a Basset to our family, but we imagined it would take a while to find the right one. We were pleasantly surprised with how quickly Heather responded. We had never heard of or used good dog before, so we werent sure what to expect. We fell in love with one of her pups and she was very prompt with offering a phone conversation that sealed the deal for us! She was very informative and responsive to any questions or concerns I had, and very accommodating when it came to pick up arrangements and timing. We will always be grateful for the gift that Tuckers Howling Hounds has given us, our sweet Coraline.

We absolutely love our Rainbow Dash from Tucker’s Howling Hounds. She is gorgeous and sweet, and well adjusted. She is a snuggle expert who loves playing with her new sisters when she’s not busy impersonating a melting ice cream sundae. We are beyond pleased with our experience in acquiring a puppy from THH. They maintain professionalism with a personal touch. When I first started my puppy search, I wasn’t open to acquiring a puppy via transport. However, when I saw Heather’s puppies and program on Good Dog, I knew I wanted one of her dogs. Heather is knowledgeable and responsive. Everything about the experience put me at ease, so we reserved our puppy and arranged to meet via ground transport. Best day ever. It’s very evident that Heather and her family spend quality time with their dogs and puppies. Both Heather and her husband were friendly and informative. You can tell that their dogs and pups receive quality care. They started her on potty training and you can tell she was handled quite a bit which makes it easier to care for her grooming needs. She even rests quietly in her playpen while we do housework.

My family has consisted of 4 legged kids for about 20 years; all brachialcephalic. Bullies that require unique living conditions from most of canines. My husband and I decided we should venture out and hunt for another affectionate breed. I found GOOD DOG and was so pleased by their business model. I was really pleased that GD screens their breeders so well. The ability to communicate with breeders was a great insight into how the breeders brought thought into their many litters. We were looking for a breeder that viewed them as potential family members and solely that, not a business that took very good care of their physical needs- but didn’t think about them once they left for their new home. Heather exhibited exactly what we were hoping for. She responded to my questions promptly and I never felt that my many messages were overboard. We mentioned we wanted a pup that was very affectionate, let us roll her onto her back (exhibiting trust immediately!). My husband loves the kisses to his ears and wow this pup renamed Peaches couldn’t have been any more loving and trusting. I had been ill when we were due to pick her up and Heather was so understanding. I was thinking about how patient I would be with a house filled with pups and adult dogs. I have rambled, however if looking for a basset hound, Heather is the best breeder we have worked with(7 breeders in total). She views them with so much love that she ensures they are transported by someone she trusts- the new parents or a professional transporter known for years. Best breeder we have worker with and certainly the best breeding as Peaches was complimented by the vet for her hips, veins in ear(easy to draw blood if needed). Sorry so long a review, however they are a family member for many years. is the person to work with. She is very kind and I think dogs sense the vibe of the household; part of the reason Peaches arrived and fit into the pack from day one. She curls up in your arms and has a very contented breathing pattern. Lastly Heather was awesome about transporting her from W VA to MA. SHE HAS A I

My twin sister and I had been looking into getting a basset hound for a few months before we ended up contacting Heather in April. She responded to me not even 5 minutes later and the rest is history. She gave weekly updates of the dogs and tried her best to update us even when she had personal events going on in life. She is so sweet and answered every question I had. We initially were going to get 1 hound but we actually ended up getting 2! Thank you so much Heather, if you’re ever planning on getting a basset hound, GO TO HEATHER!!!!
