I'm Caitlin C., the breeder behind Tulikettu Kennel located in Mount Clemens, MI. The health of our dogs always comes first. We're committed to ethical breeding & a continued effort to produce dogs that meet the breed standard. It’s important to us that we continue to improve our program and share our knowledge with our buyer families.
Q. & A. with Caitlin
Why did you start breeding?
I am a second generation dog breeder and fancier. My parents bred Alaskan Malamutes and Pug Dogs. My father also handled American Akita's. I grew up in dog showing and always knew I wanted to contribute to the population of amazing dogs I got to experience as a child. Chase's parents had Italian Greyhounds growing up. He has always had pet dogs and loves the companionship they provide.
What makes your program special?
We are focused on creating the modern American pet. Healthy, mentally and physically sound dogs, who are capable of adapting to their owners lifestyle. Whether that's an agility sport home or a family with kids who just want to play fetch in the backyard. We are capable of breeding dogs across the spectrum and are honest with our buyers about what they can expect. Oh, and our dogs are cute too!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Rory
Rory is a female Finnish Lapphund about 4 years old. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Caitlin decided to make her part of their program. Caitlin has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
Tulikettu Kennel reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Finnish Lapphunds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
