I'm Brenda Y., the breeder behind Turkhaven located in Mt. Pleasant, MI. I breed beautiful dogs with a focus on health and temperament. I like to play in conformation, tracking, obedience, and many other sports with my dogs. I feel so privileged to be able to share my life with my dogs and to share my dogs with others.   • Why did you start breeding?

    I wanted to share this incredible breed with others as well as spending my life involved with dogs. I can't imagine my life without breeding.
  • What makes your program special?

    We do everything we can to make sure we are producing pups that have everything their future families want! I use Brenda Aloff's Puppy Chronicles to raise healthy puppies that are used to extensive handling. I also do ENS and ESI with my litters
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $2,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

Excellent level

Turkhaven reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Standard Poodles.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Sebaceous Adenitis (SA)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), OFA/CHIC DNA Repository

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
