Twisted D's Dog and Pony Show

Julie D.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Julie D., the breeder behind Twisted D's Dog and Pony Show located in Buckley, WA. Our dogs are raised in our house, not locked in kennels. The difference in temperament is huge. Our dogs go out in public, in stores, on public trails. We realize that a great temperament is just as important as looks. Our puppy buyers are families. Families that want the security that comes with owning a German Shepherd with the confidence of knowing how great they will be with their kids.

Q. & A. with Julie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I bought my husband 2 GSD for Christmas in 2015. We fell in love with the breed and want to share a few pups with a few special families.
  • What makes your program special?

We raise family dogs. They live in our house with us, not in a kennel. They participate in everything we do, from farm chores to napping on the sofa to camping. Our young grandchildren visit often and love the dogs. Our dogs are health tested and we offer a health guarantee and lifetime support.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Good level

Twisted D's Dog and Pony Show reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Temperament Test

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1B), Bernese Mountain Dog Type

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
