I'm Wesley P., the breeder behind Uwharrie GSP located in Troy, NC. As a German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) breeder, my main responsibility is to breed healthy and high-quality GSP puppies that meet breed standards and are suitable for various purposes like hunting, showing or companionship. This requires extensive knowledge about the breed's character.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    So about 5 years ago, I was lucky enough to welcome Sir Sawyer to my family, a beautiful GSP who has brought me so much happiness ever since. I decided to take up breeding once again, and it was an easy decision for me to choose GSPs as my breed of choice. And now, I have a lovely family of these amazing dogs who have completely stolen my heart! ❤️

  • What makes your program special?

    How great my beautiful family of Gsp really are. All pups come micro chipped and pre-registration to AKC in your name before your pup comes home to you. Saving the new family time and money and to feel safe with the microchip. I like to make everything as easy as possible. We do deliver to any state Myself to make sure the pup gets to you safe. WE have 6 to 8 litters a year.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include white and liver, liver roan, liver and white, black roan, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Cone Degeneration, German Shorthaired Pointer Type

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
