I'm Nicole L., the breeder behind Valenwood Whippets located in Muncie, IN. We offer top-quality Whippets with a versatile, focused program striving to produce dogs that excel in sports and show. My goal is to not only produce beautiful puppies and continue my show line, but to help promote responsible breeding in order to ensure that the Whippets will continue to thrive for generations to come. I follow the American Whippet Club's guidelines on health testing, and I raise my puppies using Puppy Culture, which helps me to find the right home for each of my puppies.
Q. & A. with Nicole
Why did you start breeding?
As a child I loved dogs. I would go to dog shows just to watch them. My dad bought me my first show dog in 2004 (a Whippet). Not long after, I got two more dogs. After a few successful years of showing dogs from other breeders, we decided to breed our first litter. Our first litter produced 2 champions. I do not breed very often, only when I am ready for a puppy myself.
What makes your program special?
I am very dedicated to what I do and what I am trying to achieve as a breeder. I am constantly researching better ways to care, breed, and train my dogs. This is not what I do for a living (I am a teacher), this is my passion. All the work I am putting in to create my perfect puppy, means you are getting that same amount of work for yours.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
