Q. & A. with Laurence
What makes your program special?
We have 8 females and 1 male that are turning 4 weeks old this coming Monday. At this point we are planning to keep the male ourselves. The sire's owner also showed interest in the male since he only trains males. In my opinion females make better pets but males are easier to compete with in dog sports because they aren't affected by heat cycles.
Here is the background of the parents of this litter: My female O'lani vom der Kolonie is 4 years old. I imported her at 10 weeks old from Germany. I had done obsessive research before choosing her and that paid off huge. Her dad Hercules is a globally known male in Germany but from Czech lines. He is the offspring of Spod Lazov who won the FCI World championship in 2013. He is a WUSV Sieger and he is Slovakian champion. Hercules is known for producing healthy hips and elbows, outstanding temperament and spectacular good looks. Here is a video of him:

O'lanis mom is also very impressive but in the interest of time I will not go too far into that line other than to say she is a top level regional competitor in Germany and comes from a male that is a German champion and world level competitor representing Germany at the worlds.
Half brother to O'lani won the nationals in the USA last year and placed 3rd at the Words a couple of months ago representing the USA.
O'lanis littermate sister just competed at the worlds representing Sweden and did well (middle of the pack but was pregnant at the time) O'lani achieved her IGP 1 at the northwest regionals in Utah and her IGP2 at the southwestern regionals in Arizona this year.
The sire is Viking vom Herrets Fire. IGP 3 is a 8x IGP3 competitor coming from very good lines in the Czech Republic. He is going to the nationals again this year and is a great performer. He has awesome looks too (V rating) He also has the best rating on hips and elbow rating possible from SV in Germany but I selected him because of his temperament. He is extremely stable, has huge confidence and is very good natured. He is not mean or overly aggressive. He is not dog aggressive. He is an awesome natural tracker. He does well in protection but is very biddable. His owner takes him to work with him, a true man's best friend.
My female has some of the same qualities and I can talk about her for days but here I am focusing on why I chose to breed her and especially why I decided on Viking as a Sire. I a, happy to share more information in person and provide proof and documentation.

About O'lani (Import From Germany)
O'lani is a wonderful example of an awesome female German Shepherd. She is smart, loyal, and dependable. She’s quick to learn, easy to train, and always alert to her surroundings. Whether she’s working, playing, or relaxing, she stays close to her people and forms strong bonds. Protective but gentle, she knows when to be serious and when to have fun. She’s not just a pet — she’s a reliable companion and a steady presence in our life. She has achieved IGP2 title and soon will trial for IGP3. She has hips and elbows rated HD/ED Normal (highest possible rating given by SV in Germany) We love her a lot and she loves us back 100 times more.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Vom Bismarkhaus reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
