Missy O.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Missy O., the breeder behind Vom Cosabar located in Vancouver, WA. All of our dogs are fully health tested and titled in a vast array of sports. We focus on German shepherds that not only will do well in sports but also as an active companion. All our puppies are vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, AKC registered before they leave us.

Q. & A. with Missy

  • Why did you start breeding?

I met my friend and mentor many years ago at a UKC dog show with Chiron, and she has since played an instrumental role in guiding me through the process of producing my first litter. Although I have always been actively involved in the dog community and had long considered breeding, I recognize that producing a healthy, well-balanced litter requires significant dedication, knowledge, and commitment. For that reason, I chose to wait until I felt confident that I had the right mentorship and an exceptional female to establish my breeding program on a strong foundation.
  • What makes your program special?

All of our dogs undergo comprehensive health testing to help ensure they do not pass on hereditary health conditions to their progeny. In addition, each dog in our program is temperament tested, has earned a UKC Championship, and holds various other performance titles. These accomplishments demonstrate that our dogs are not only structurally sound, but also possess the stable temperament and working ability required to perform the tasks for which the breed was developed.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Missy

Missy has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Missy partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“Puppies are evaluated and matched based on gender and temperament at seven weeks of age. As the breeder, I make the final placement decisions to ensure the best possible fit for each home. Because I am with the litter daily and closely monitor their development and behavior, I am positioned to assess each puppy’s temperament and individual traits”

Puppy prices include a $250 non-refundable deposit and between $2,250 - $2,750 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Temperament Test

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
