I'm Elena G., the breeder behind vom Gannett located in Saint John, WA. At vom Gannett, I want to preserve the German Shepherd as it should be: intelligent, versatile, beautiful, and ready to work. My dogs are part of my life, not a separate breeding project, and every decision begins with the kind of dog I would be proud to train, show, compete with, and live beside.

Why did you start breeding?
I did not begin with the dream of simply producing puppies. I began with dogs—training, competing, showing, and learning from both their strengths and weaknesses. Over time, I wanted to take more responsibility for the qualities that exist before training begins. Breeding became my way to thoughtfully shape the next generation while staying honest about what each pairing may bring.
What makes your program special?
My program is guided by the German breed standard and the SV system, but it is also deeply personal. I want my puppies to remain real German Shepherds: active, intelligent, engaged, and eager to have a purpose. I carefully choose homes that understand this. These dogs need training, structure, and partnership; they are not meant to be ignored, shut away, or expected to make themselves invisible.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Elena

Elena has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Elena partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 8 weeks old.

“I get to know each family and what they hope to do with their dog. As the puppies grow, I evaluate temperament, drive, confidence, structure, and trainability. I recommend the puppy I believe best fits the buyer’s lifestyle and goals, and the final match is made together around 8–9 weeks.”

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Price includes limited AKC registration, age-appropriate vaccines and deworming, microchip, veterinary records, early socialization, evaluation, and breeder support. A $500 non-refundable deposit is accepted after application approval and mutual agreement on a specific puppy. It secures that puppy and is applied to the final purchase price.”

About Shaft
Shaft is an accomplished working-line male with the strength, stability, and versatility I value in a German Shepherd. He holds IGP3 and lifetime SV Körung, with HD normal and ED near-normal. Throughout his career, he has earned multiple V-rated scores in all three IGP phases—tracking, obedience, and protection. His awards include High in Trial, High HOT, High IGP1, High IGP2, High IGP3, High Tracking, High Obedience, and High Protection. Shaft has also earned multiple V conformation ratings under SV judges, including a V rating at the GSDCA National Sieger Show, where he received the Performance Award for his bitework. These results are especially meaningful for a working-line male. Working-line dogs are generally selected first for performance, and it is uncommon for them to receive high conformation ratings at major national events. Shaft has proven that serious working ability can be combined with correct breed type, functional structure, and strong overall presentation. His SV breed survey describes him as a substantial, masculine male with a powerful head, lively and noble expression, good proportions, strong dry musculature, good angulation, good chest development, and effective movement with strong rear drive. He is described as secure, natural, spirited, attentive, gun-sure, and firm in nerve, with pronounced TSB. At his repeat Körung, he was presented in very good condition and approved for life. Shaft is intense, persistent, and fully committed when he works, but his character is equally valuable away from the field. He is highly social, predictable, and exceptionally easy to live with. Because of his calm confidence and social stability, he has repeatedly served as the neutral dog at trials. He has also been used as an evaluation dog for unfamiliar dogs entering my boarding program, helping me safely observe their social behavior around a stable and experienced adult male. Shaft represents what I value in a true working German Shepherd: powerful instincts, serious working ability, masculinity, functional construction, social stability, and the ability to remain a reliable and comfortable companion in everyday life.

About Bellona
Bellona represents what I value most in the German Shepherd and what I believe has become increasingly uncommon in modern show lines: correct, expressive structure without exaggeration, combined with genuine working ability and a strong, functional temperament. She holds IGP3 and SV Körung (Breed Survey), has earned V-rated scores in each of the three IGP phases, and has consistently received V ratings in the show ring under SV judges, plus got a Performance Award at Canadian National Sieger Show. Her SV breed survey describes her as a large, medium-strong, very well-pigmented female with a powerful head, high withers, a firm back, balanced movement, effective rear drive, good reach, secure nerves, and pronounced TSB. She is energetic, confident, resilient, and highly willing to work. At home, Bellona is exceptionally easy to live with. She is very social with both people and other dogs, has an excellent on-and-off switch, and settles calmly without being destructive. She is a naturally cheerful, positive dog with a bright personality that makes people smile wherever she goes. She is always happy to train, play, or spend time together, but she is not demanding or intrusive when I am busy. She also has a strong natural hunting instinct and takes her role as our resident mouse hunter seriously—regularly returning with proof of her success. Bellona is not only a successful sport and show dog. She is a balanced, capable, and enjoyable companion who remains unmistakably a true German Shepherd in work, appearance, and everyday life.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
