I'm Emily H., the breeder behind Vom Grenze Stadt German Shepherd Dogs located in Pittsburg, NH. I am dedicated to raising well-balanced, mentally stable, and physically capable puppies suited for both sport and active family life. My breeding program focuses on temperament, structure, and drive. Each litter is carefully planned, emphasizing health-tested parents, proper socialization from birth, and early exposure to varied environments.
Q. & A. with Emily
Why did you start breeding?
My passion for breeding began with my first German Shepherd, Havok. He is truly, in my opinion, everything a German Shepherd should be — possessing drive and intensity, paired with the ability to balance that with a clear head, stability, and an incredible “off switch.” Today, I dedicate my time to helping families find and raise dogs like Havok — balanced, driven, and capable companions who thrive in both working and home environments.
What makes your program special?
My dogs aren’t just breeders—they’re cherished family members who live inside my home and are part of my daily life. This creates a nurturing, social, and loving environment that’s reflected in the temperament and health of every puppy I raise.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include long and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Vom Grenze Stadt German Shepherd Dogs reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test, Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
