I'm Thomas and Sally S., the breeder behind vom Haus am Lerchenweg located in Melba, ID. At vom Haus am Lerchenweg we have a specific breeding program that enables us to produce a German Shepherd that is not only striking in beauty but also has intelligence and strength and heart.
Q. & A. with Thomas and Sally
Why did you start breeding?
I started breeding about 30 years ago in Germany. There is a need, in my opinion, of show dogs that can work. That are healthy, have a great temperament, but can go out of the field and do the job that they are being bred to do. Health and Temperament are a priority in our program. However, the dog must work and fit in the standard set out by the SV.
What makes your program special?
Our program is special because of the knowledge. Not everyone can say they actually worked dogs back in the pedigrees for generations. Not only did I meet that dog and touch that dog, but I know that dog, its parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Its owner and the owner's parents. We can give you the history of dogs that we never owned as if they were our own.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include stock, plush, and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
