Meet the breeder

I'm Carley S., the breeder behind Vom Schön Traumhund located in Garland, ME. We breed and raise West German Show Line German Shepherds, both long and stock coat. Our dogs are healthy, well-socialized, and have sound temperament. They meet the SV breed standard and participate in USCA conformation shows, earning ratings from SV and USCA judges.

Q. & A. with Carley

  • Why did you start breeding?

Raised in a breeding environment, my love for raising puppies began at a young age. As I grew older, I became determined to pursue responsible breeding and, after extensive research, discovered my true passion with German Shepherds. With mentorship from experienced breeders, I established my own breeding program focused on health, temperament, and breed standard.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are actively showing USCA conformation shows, earning respected ratings. We invest daily time in training and socializing to develop confident, well-rounded dogs. All undergo strict health testing hips/elbows via OFA or SV, full genetic panels, heart and eye exams, and Degenerative Myelopathy screening. We uphold the highest standards in temperament, health, genetics, and beauty.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and black and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Looking for the right breeder was important to my family and I during this process as we knew that this pet would be part of us. Carley exceeded my expectations the day we first reached out. Carley made the process seem so effortless by taking the time to answer all of my questions and eased our minds by continuously sending pictures and updates on our new pup. Carley made sure we had all of the right items before arrival and has consistently kept in touch since picking him up. You can really tell that Carley truly cares about her dogs. Would definitely contact Carley if and when we are ready for pup #2!

I had such a wonderful experience working with Carley. She is such a sweetheart, just by having a conversation with her you can see that all of her dogs and puppies are so loved. I received updates and pictures a few times a week on how all of the puppies in the litter were doing, growing and learning while waiting for the day to bring my beautiful baby girl home! She always responded pretty quickly to any questions I had, as this was my first time getting a puppy from a breeder. Very knowledgeable! I would not think twice about recommending her to anyone looking to add a German Shepard to their family!
