I'm Courtney P., the breeder behind vom Vikos located in Buford, GA. We breed well-balanced, health-tested German Shepherds with puppy foundations that nurture curiosity, drive, and confidence. We breed both to provide exceptional working dogs for sport homes and families with loving and versatile companions. We are truly seeking to improve the breed.
Q. & A. with Courtney
Why did you start breeding?
German Shepherds have always been part of my heart! I am passionate about this breed and preserving their versatility & working ability.
What makes your program special?
We are intensely committed to the health & well-being of our dogs. Through carefully selected pairings, we want to breed the total German Shepherd. We're a very small kennel and really invest a lot in each litter & dog, as well as investing in getting to know our potential puppy owners. It is a huge privilege to provide people with their next family member or working/competition dog.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Cheyenne
I wish I could capture in words how special this dog is. She’s one of those dogs you just have to meet to appreciate all she brings to the table. Very confident, comfortable, happy dog that is very social and biddable. She handles pressure & stress exceptionally, rolls with the punches, & keeps going/is forgiving. Very high prey drive and adores the work. She is truly a joy to train cause she just loves it so much. She is excellent in the house… settles right away in any new environment I’ve taken her in and is happy to just enjoy company. Loves children & has stable nerves. Gets along well with other dogs. I went through Mario Gomes’ training program with her to get to IGP1.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
vom Vikos reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
