I'm John F., the breeder behind Von Fousthaus GSDogs located in Dunn, NC. I train my dogs for Schutzhund and each one is titled before they are bred. I am passionate about my work and love my dogs! I live in a remote area with lots of land where my dogs have ample room to play and explore. This allows my puppies to learn and gain confidence in themselves. My dogs work hard, play hard, love hard, and are part of the family. I prepare all of my pups to excel in life.
Q. & A. with John
Why did you start breeding?
With the success I've had in Schutzhund, several people have asked me about getting a puppy out of my dogs. I began breeding because of that, but then found there are a lot of people who have lost a long-time pet that are looking for a quality replacement. It has been my pleasure to help those people find joy in a new puppy. It is an honor to represent this breed and create opportunities for others to experience the same joy that I've found in raising these wonderful dogs.
What makes your program special?
I breed the dogs that I raise, train, and compete with. Because of this, each dog receives individual attention and love. I teach the puppies from an early age to go potty on the grass. They're allowed to run and play in my fenced-in backyard and with adult dogs. I take them on walks to explore and learn to walk beside me. I start to break them from jumping on people. They are also exposed to other people, children, and adults. With these practices, I can provide each puppy with the attention and training it needs to excel in all areas of life.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are sable. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
