I'm Lauren P., the breeder behind von Haus Ulv located in Cadiz, KY. Haus Ulv Kennels breeds for a working temperament, health and correct structure. These are high energy working dogs, not your average house pet so I look to place my dogs with people that are looking to work the dog in obedience or some sort of working venue. I don't breed low key house pets.
Q. & A. with Lauren
Why did you start breeding?
While training dogs and training many poorly bred German Shepherds, it made me appreciate that I had a well-bred, stable, and healthy working German Shepherd. I wanted to produce that. So I started to research quality German Shepherds and got into the genetics that helped to make them that way.
What makes your program special?
I am an AKC certified breeder that has completed genetics & breeding courses with high scores, and also comply with the Bred with H.E.A.R.T. Program. Great research goes into the genetics of the dogs in my breeding programs. I start with a dog that possesses the desired traits of a German Shepherd then raise the puppies with absolute commitment and attention to detail while in my care.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Lucifer, dad
German Shepherd
About Lucifer
Lucifer is a nice solid male with a good structure. He carries the black recessive gene (aw/a). Lucifer is a very loving dog and wants to please. He has good prey and food drive, nice focus and is willing to work. Lucifer is a VERY agile dog and scales over 6 ft fences with ease. He can hang out with other males that don't challenge him. He is a happy and social dog that has a laid back attitude but always ready to work or go exploring. He has produced multiple litters of pups with nice stable drive for working. A few have gone to police homes or used for SAR and other scent detection agencies.
Lucifer is being used as a stud dog to approved females.
Females must be AKC registered. Proof of hip and elbows certification through OFA or SV with rating of nothing less than Fair (preferably Good or better), DNA tested for DM with a clear result but will consider breeding to a carrier since Lucifer is clear **depending on the female**. Must have a sound temperament and reflect the German Standard of the German Shepherd in correct temperament, structure, size, and color.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
von Haus Ulv reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Brucellosis, Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
OFA/CHIC DNA Repository, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), DNA Profile
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
