I'm Cheryl M., the breeder behind Von Mathausen German Shepherds located in Old Fort, NC. My dogs are bred for correct conformation, temperament and working ability. I only keep a few breeding dogs because I want to be sure that I am able to give each dog the attention he or she needs.
Q. & A. with Cheryl
Why did you start breeding?
I had a very nice dog that was titled in conformation and obedience. I was encouraged to breed her and a friend of mine helped me to choose the right stud dog for her. Ever since I have become a student of the breed. There is always something to learn about these wonderful dogs.
What makes your program special?
I think that the fact I work/title all of my breeding dogs myself really sets me apart from others. I get to know a dogs strengths and weaknesses and that helps me to choose the correct dog to meet whatever goal I have at the time.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include plush, long, and stock coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and tan and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
