I'm Melanie G., the breeder behind Water Oak Farm located in Comer, GA. Our pups come from fully vetted parents. Our babies are raised in our home, never in a kennel. We have lots of activities for our pups to do during the day including a ball pit, playground, interactive toys, tug toys, learning toys and hands-on training daily. We love playing with our babies!!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We have been breeding Bernese Mountain dogs for 25 years and they participate on the farm with daily chores. Our Schnauzers are our shadows here on the farm and they LOVE it! They love to chase squirrels, birds and chipmunks.

  • What makes your program special?

    We do our best to breed sound, genetically tested dogs with excellent temperaments that meet the breed standard. Our program goes above the standard testing recommended by AKC to include Patellar. We feel it is important that our dogs patellas our sound because they do a lot of playing, running, jumping and digging for fun here on the farm.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Miniature Schnauzer puppies include salt and pepper, black and silver, and black. Bernese Mountain Dog puppies are black rust and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Melanie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1B), Bernese Mountain Dog Type, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    She was so extremely helpful making sure I got there safely and got home safely. She took great care and making sure no germs were brought into the home for her puppies. The home was nice and clean the smell Free thorough with her paperwork and originally helped me pick out one of the three puppies that I looked at and we’ve been home for almost 2 weeks and the puppy is extremely active. She loves my daughter’s dog that staying with me for a little while and loves my older dog she has answered any questions I have on the baby and Nala is a doll.
