I'm Malinda W., the breeder behind Weberhaus German Shepherds located in Ottawa, KS. Our breeding program is dedicated specifically to the German Shepherd and the preservation of the working Czech and DDR lines. We are able to offer the highest quality puppies or trained adult dogs to our customers. We are using the best bloodlines from the past to bring you the future.
Q. & A. with Malinda
Why did you start breeding?
I began breeding after getting a working line female who i raised and titled in IPO sport. I had a really touch time finding a good and honest breeder to work with so after having a few bad experiences with breeders i decided to breed my female after she was titled and health tested. After that word of mouth traveled and i had a large waiting list for puppies because people just wanted a honest person.
What makes your program special?
Our dream for the German Shepherd is such that we will not breed for just a pet, though many of our dogs live as pets in a home that is not what this breed was designed for. Given that a litter has puppies of different suitabilities we help find the right dog to fit the needs. Temperament, health, workability and good genetic background are the foundations of our program. Our breedings are selected to complete both dogs as individuals and pedigree to insure strong genetics. We recommend early reservations on our litters as we carefully plan each breeding and many times have a waiting list in place.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Weberhaus German Shepherds reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Spine (OFA, FCI), Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Full Embark Panel, DNA Profile, Multiple Drug Sensitivity (MDR1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
