I'm Steven W., the breeder behind West Haus Shepherds located in Greenwood, AR. My wife and I have decided to breed German shepherds because we have fallen in love with the two that we have currently. The intelligence and personality of the breed is what makes us strive to provide the best puppies that we can for families looking to share that same bond with their puppy.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    When I bought my male three years ago, my friend told me that I would need to get him trained and recommended a dog trainer. I decided to use said trainer and after many many sessions and growing our relationship with them, I am now his decoy when he is training police and protection dogs and decided to give breeding a shot. So we have been taking advice and following their wisdom to a T.

  • What makes your program special?

    We treat every dog like they are a part of our family. We strive to provide the best foundation for these animals, we do health testing on the mothers and the fathers of each litter. We aspire to breed wonderful, healthy dogs and want every customer to never wonder how we treat their new member of the family. We aim for complete transparency and mindfulness to provide as good of service as we can.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies include stock, plush, and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include sable, black, bi-color, black and red, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Steven

Steven has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and $1,200 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes the puppy, a copy of the litter certificate, paperwork from AKC allowing you to register your puppy, and the veterinary care provided to the puppy until it leaves our facility. All puppies are same price regardless of coat length and color. We ask for a deposit from buyers as to not mislead others in their journey to add a companion to their family when selecting puppies.”

Contract & health guarantee

Steven may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
