I'm Lisa R., the breeder behind Winchester West Highlands located in Central Ohio. We love our Westies! It's great to watch a healthy, happy puppy meet its family, knowing what a wonderful adventure is in store! There's nothing more important than a healthy dog, our dogs have been genetic and health tested through OFA. They are our family pets and enjoy AKC Performance Sports.   • Why did you start breeding?

    We participate in AKC performance sports and love the breed. Scout, Finn & Kimber are health tested to make sure they will make a good breeding pairs and we work with a top repro vet to make sure we haven't missed any steps. We have the support of both of the breeders of Scout, Kimber and Finn and are dedicated to providing healthy Westies to great families.

  • What makes your program special?

    We start with a foundation of fully health-tested dogs. We use Puppy Culture for early socialization and development of the puppies and send puppies home at 10 weeks with their vaccination record & health certificate. They will be microchipped with me as the backup contact. My puppies will NEVER be in a shelter, I stand behind my dogs and will take back a puppy/dog at any age. I continue to be a resource for my families after pick up. As of March 2022 have become part of the AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T Program (Health, Educatiion, Accountability, Responsibility & Tradition), I am also a member of the National Breed Club.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • Full Embark Panel, Wisdom Panel, Craniomandibular Osteopathy (CMO)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Lisa is amazing! She cares deeply for her puppies and shares them on Facebook daily so you can watch them grow. She is a library of knowledge and we loved the training and exposures she did with the puppies which makes them well rounded and loving. The process was clear and easy to complete.     We were looking for a good breeder, but what we found with Lisa was an excellent breeder! . I could not imagine anyone better to raise these puppies. She put in hours upon hours with the care of the puppies, preparing them for their new homes. Mako is well adjusted in his new home. He is brave and smart. His health is excellent. Lisa was and still is very responsive to questions and kept everyone updated. She not only prepared the puppies for their new homes, she also prepares the new family.
