I'm Brenda K., the breeder behind Winterfell Bernese Mountain Dogs located in Rockford, IL. Please read through the many testimonials that give credence to the temperament, health and beauty of the dogs I breed. Happy puppy families are the true hallmark of a good breeder, not just Championship titles. I feel fortunate to have found my passion in life.
Q. & A. with Brenda
Why did you start breeding?
I came across a BMD over 30 years ago. At that time they were relatively unknown to the general public here in the states. As I became an empty nester, I gave up my dressage show horse life and I acquired a potential show puppy. He went on to get his AKC Championship title within a year. Thus it began …
What makes your program special?
I live with my dogs 24/7
I wear all the hats. I know their strengths and weakness. I have striven over the years to improve in the areas I felt I could.
I’m an avid reader/inquisitive/ and hoarder of knowledge when it comes to BMD, I’m not afraid to seek answers from those that I respect. I’m happy to pass that knowledge along to each and every pet family.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black rust and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
