I'm Tracey W., the breeder behind Woodpecker Farm located in Lynden, WA. At Woodpecker Farm our focus is creating a healthy working dog and companion. We test for all known collie genetic diseases, while also putting an emphasis on genetic diversity. Pups are socialized and suitable for farm work, sports or companions. They make exceptional family farm dogs.
Q. & A. with Tracey
Why did you start breeding?
Entering into breeding isn't something I take lightly. I have a specific goal in mind, which is recreating the all around working collie, while increasing genetic diversity and improving colllie health. The wellfare of the dog is never sacrificed for ribbons; improving the breed for future generations is always a top priority.
What makes your program special?
Woodpecker Farm strives to recreate the collie of old, the one with greater genetic diversity and vigor, as well as focusing on a working dog which transitions easily to family pet when not on the job. Dogs of excellent temperament & highly biddable. Working Scottish Collies, sport dogs and family companions.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Woodpecker Farm reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Scottish Collies.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
