I'm Nathan P., the breeder behind Woodshire Hounds located in Melbourne, FL. Our dogs are bred according to the standards of the Basset Hound Club of America, through the AKC. All our dogs are health screened. We love to show our dogs in conformation shows, and are happy to have our first Champion, Fiona, who will go for her Grand Championship!

I purchased a show quality dog in 2000 and as a co-owner agreed to show and breed here after she became a champion.What makes your program special?
I work with multiple mentors who have been breeding the Basset Hound for over 20 years. I show my dogs myself and love doing this!Where do your breeding dogs live?

Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease, X-Linked, Basset Hound Type (XSCID), Primary Open Angle Glaucoma, Basset Hound Type
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
