Meet the breeder

I'm Stephanie K., the breeder behind Wykota 7K Scottish Collies located in Newcastle, WY. We’re devoted to ensuring there are healthy puppies for others to enjoy and we do so by responsibly growing this incredible breed. The foundation of our breeding program starts with raising healthy and well-loved dogs. We aim to pass the same happiness of owning a quality-bred dog to our buyers.

Q. & A. with Stephanie

  • Why did you start breeding?

I first became involved in breeding through a deep love of dogs and a desire to better understand them. What began as admiration for their loyalty, intelligence, and companionship gradually grew into a commitment to preserving and improving the breeds I cared about. I was fortunate to be mentored early on by experienced breeders who taught me the importance of health testing, pedigree research, structure, and, most importantly, sound temperament.
  • What makes your program special?

What makes my breeding program truly special is the combination of decades of experience, thoughtful planning, and a genuine love for the dogs I raise. With over 30 years of breeding experience across multiple breeds and a focused dedication to Rough Collies since 2025, my program is built on a strong foundation of knowledge, integrity, and continuous learning. Every pairing is carefully selected with attention to health, temperament, structure, and adherence to breed standards. Health is always a top priority. I believe in responsible breeding practices, including appropriate health testing and careful evaluation of each dog’s strengths. Just as important as physical soundness is temperament. My dogs are raised in a nurturing environment where they are handled daily, socialized thoughtfully, and introduced to everyday household experiences. This early foundation helps ensure confident, gentle, and well-adjusted puppies.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have rough coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
