Meet the breeder

I'm Zack D., the breeder behind Zack's Weimaraners located in Blackshear, GA. When I lost my last one from my childhood about 10 years ago, I began searching for bloodlines that had the temperament and body that I wanted. Emphasis was put on a hunting ability, a calmer demeanor and a larger body. All of the effort was put forth to better the breed that I love.

Q. & A. with Zack

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got into breeding when I realized that I could not find the dog that I wanted anywhere around me. Everything I came across was small-bodied and had the temperament that I have seen lead to anxiety problems. I searched for a year and wound up finding what I wanted in Oklahoma. I have been out there and back 3 times and brought back 4 Weimaraners for myself and extended family.
  • What makes your program special?

These dogs can really be whatever you desire them to be, as long as they get love. We do Volhard Aptitude testing on the puppies at 49 days to get an idea of what each individual puppy might become. We use that to place certain puppies with families depending on what they are after, though there has seemed to be very little variation. They make good house pets, guardians, hunting dogs and friends.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have smooth coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are silver gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
