Zu Treuen Händen, Working German Shepherd Dogs

Lisa C.

Breeder of German Shepherds

Meet the breeder

I'm Lisa C., the breeder behind Zu Treuen Händen, Working German Shepherd Dogs located in Bloomington, IN. We’re proud of our health tested, titled, well balanced dogs that are suitable for both working/sport homes, service dogs and active family companions. Dogs that are a joy to work, that want to work, but can settle and be couch potatoes when needed.

Q. & A. with Lisa

  • Why did you start breeding?

I have always had a fascination with genetics and the art of breeding. I bred horses, beef cattle, rabbits and eventually GSD. I trained, trialed and lived with GSD always learning, always searching for the female I wanted as a foundation. Took 15 years.
  • What makes your program special?

I have been in the breed a long time and want to maintain the GSD as a utilitarian working dog. My litters tend to be well rounded from dogs suitable for sport and working K-9 to dogs that are also suitable for service dogs. Balance, not extremes.
  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include sable, black, black and tan, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
