I'm Kaylene N., the breeder behind Zwinger aus dem Kreuzfeuer located in Big Lake, MN. Zwinger aus dem Kreuzfeuer is a working line German Shepherd kennel. Our focus is producing well rounded dogs that meet SV health testing and titling breeding requirements. Our focus is competing with our dogs in IGP and AKC/UKC sports.
Q. & A. with Kaylene
Why did you start breeding?
Kay's first well bred German Shepherd came from a working line breeder that introduced her to IGP and SV breeding requirements. Since her first IGP lesson, she was hooked. Kay seeks to breed for personal future sport prospects that are able to excel in IGP but also be amazing family companions.
What makes your program special?
We only have two to three litters per female. This is to ensure we are producing quality dogs while also being able to compete with our females.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have stock coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, black and tan, black and red, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Patton
Patton is a larger male, well rounded male. He has powerful calm, full grips. He has a desire to please his handler and works well under pressure. He has a great off switch at home and is neutral towards the cats in the household.
In addition to IGP, Patton competes in UKC conformation, dock diving, and different obedience venues. Patton is always willing and eager to work with his handler at whatever his handler wants to try.
Kiki is an up and coming breeding prospect. She is highly intelligent with an amazing nose for tracking. She has high food and prey drive. She is handler sensitive but works well through pressure.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
Zwinger aus dem Kreuzfeuer reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
