Good Dog’s Coat Color in the Bulldog Policy

The Bulldog Club of America (also known as the BCA or the parent club) breed standard recognizes only red, white, fawn, fallow, or any combination of these and brindle, piebald, ticking, black masks, black tipping as standard coat colors and patterns in Bulldogs. All other colors including lilac, blue, black & tan, black & white, black, fawn & white, bronze, black, red & white, and merle have been deemed disqualifying colors by the BCA.

Good Dog recognizes breeding programs producing Bulldogs with the following colors as Good Breeders of standard Bulldogs:

Standard Coat Colors:

  • Red
  • White
  • Fawn
  • Fallow
  • Any combination of the above colors

Standard Markings and Patterns:

  • Brindle
  • Piebald
  • Black masks
  • Black tipping
  • Ticking

Good Dog recognizes breeding programs producing Bulldogs with the following colors as Good Breeders of non-standard Bulldogs:

  • Bronze
  • Chocolate/Liver
  • Blue
  • Lilac
  • Black & Tan
  • Black & White
  • Black, Fawn, & White
  • Black, Red, & White

Good Dog will not recognize breeding programs that produce merle Bulldog as outlined in Good Dog’s Policy on Merles.
