Analyzing Your Breeding Program

Watch the class video to learn how to analyze your breeding program. No matter where you are in your breeding career, analysis will help you be more successful.

Sample Data Collection Forms

Here are some sample data collection forms that you are welcome to use in your breeding program.

  • Heat Cycles – Use one form for each bitch, tracking the beginning of each of her heat cycles to help predict future seasons.
  • Breeding Summary – Track each breeding you do by sire, dam, parents’ ages, type of breeding (natural, AI, TCI, surgical), type of semen (fresh, chilled, frozen), food and more. This was the form that showed us that raw food without grains had reduced litter size by 2 puppies and that adding grains in resolved that issue.
  • Individual Breeding Data Collection Form – Use one form for each breeding, to track your bitch’s cycle using behavior, vaginal cytology and hormone levels.
  • Individual Puppies Data Collection Form – Use this form to collect information for all puppies that you produced, including health info.
