I'm Ronnette Davis, the breeder behind Von Baron Schnauzers!
I grew up surrounded by animals on a mini farm and wildlife rehabilitation center. This taught me great responsibility and my passion for all kinds of animals, since I was a young child. With my dad being a doctor, I was always interested in the birthing and caretaking of the various animals we had. I had an egg route and a goat breeding business before I was old enough to drive. I ended up becoming a photographer, but always turned to animals for my subjects.
I stumbled into the world of dog breeding while looking for a job. With my background knowledge of animals, I was immediately hired to work for one of the most reputable Schnauzer breeders in the country. I worked my way up to Master Kennel Manager within a few months. I was blessed with my first Schnauzer just two months after I started working for the breeder because of all of my hard work. I knew from that moment that I would become a great breeder someday. I can remember the joy in my heart when Xaron became a daddy for the first time. I quickly grew to own six dogs while I continued my apprenticeship for six years. I was able to work and breed my dogs at the same time. Who doesn’t love taking your dogs to work with you?

I began looking for a way to go out on my own. I found Good Dog and was extremely excited that I was approved to have my kennel listed. So, at that point, I thought to myself "Hmmm what would be a good name?" Von Baron Schnauzers of course! Xaron Von Baron started my love for the breed. Who knew back that back in 2015 when he was gifted to me, that I would end up naming my very own kennel named after him. After all, Von Baron means "the noble one."
I met several breeders and veterinarians along my journey who all educated and inspired me to follow my path into breeding. I studied all kinds of books and articles; basically anything that I could get my hands on about building a great breeding business.
What sets me apart is the knowledge that I have gained since I took that job back in 2015. I knew what I wanted my business to look like way before I even knew this is what I wanted to do with my life. I picked out my dogs based on what I knew people wanted: temperament, health, color, and quality. My dogs are AKC, Embark DNA health tested, and I go above with OFA certification in heart and eyes. I am always doing countless hours of research with food, supplements, and everything related to dogs. My dogs are my pets first. They sleep with me, watch TV, and even have birthday celebrations.

My puppies always have my full attention. I don’t even leave their sides until they are 4-weeks-old. Being a breeder means sacrifices, but the smile on my clients' faces and their repeat business makes it all worth it. Being a photographer has come in handy to showcase my puppies. I think a fantastic photo helps you stand out in front of the pack. My clients are amazed that not only do they get an amazing, well rounded puppy, they also get amazing photographs, lots of wonderful reading material, and an extensive puppy kit so they don’t have to shop and can stay at home with their new fur baby. I pride myself on responding quickly to phone calls and texts. I find that is very important to puppy buyers. They like that I am there for support with potty training, food, vaccines…you name it.

I am so blessed to have such fantastic clients that have left such wonderful reviews for me. The updates they share are always so incredible. The photographs and the videos of how smart their babies are truly lights my face up.
I owe Good Dog a great deal. I found them and I never looked back. The amazing support both with other breeder enthusiasts and the vast knowledge on their website is endless. I keep growing as a breeder every day because of the new information that is provided to me. I am looking forward to growing and continuing to produce outstanding Miniature Schnauzers. All of the support within the Good Dog Breeder community is amazing. When you have a question about paperwork, whelping, food, or anything else -- we have each others back. That is what truly makes a great breeder.
