I'm Tommie J., the breeder behind 7th Heaven Havanese of Texas located in Cleveland, TX. Having a dog in our lives is such a blessing. We find so much fulfillment in providing that same companionship to other homes! We are a selective breeding program that focuses on temperament and the overall well-being of our dogs. We breed to produce happy and healthy puppies that can continue to thrive in their forever homes.
Q. & A. with Tommie
Why did you start breeding?
A friend of mine told me if I would ever get a Havanese that I would never want a different breed of dog. She had one that she offered to me, but asked that if I ever had puppies, I would give her one back. And that was how it started. After going through the breeding and puppy raising process in order to pay her back, I fell in love with the whole adventure, and the puppies were so adorable. I work harder many days than I did as a teacher, but it is so rewarding. The love I have received from my Havanese babies has really filled my life with warm and happy times.
What makes your program special?
My breeding program is special in that I show so much care and love to my babies that people who have them in their homes now are becoming repeat buyers because they have seen how such wonderful pets come from my home into theirs. Their potty training is usually a breeze, because I work with mat training for several weeks. I also socialize them and show them lots of attention and love for the 8 weeks that I have them.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black and white, red, black and silver, red sable, silver sable, black and tan brindle, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
7th Heaven Havanese of Texas reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Havanese.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
