Meet the breeder

I'm Adrienne L., the breeder behind A Refined Canine located in Texas. All of our puppies are bred, raised, and loved indoors to produce happy, healthy pets for those seeking the best family companion! We are home-based breeders dedicated to bringing healthy, loving, and high-quality puppies into the homes and hearts of their forever families. We love our dogs and are passionate about raising our puppies to be the best family companions.

Q. & A. with Adrienne

  • Why did you start breeding?

Three and a half years ago I got my female named Charlie and I knew that I wanted to breed her! A lot of careful thought and consideration went into Charlie's first litter including numerous health screenings and DNA testing. Over a year was spent planning out her first litter of puppies and picking the absolute perfect male counterpart. The dad's name is "Bode" and is a beautiful Golden Retriever who has won several conformation titles. Charlie has won trick dog titles, rally competitions, and has competed in nose work trials!
  • What makes your program special?

The puppies are being raised with a program called Puppy Culture to ensure that they grow up to become well adjusted and well socialized, friendly adult dogs with sweet demeanors. The puppies are introduced to new environments, sounds, people, and friendly, healthy dogs during their first ten weeks of life to ensure that they have the best start in life possible. Puppy Culture is based on the premise that the puppy always leads the learning, and puppies learn best by appropriate experiences at the appropriate time. By following the Puppy Culture raising program, we are observing each puppy, and, based on the behavioral markers that we see, serve the puppy the experience or lesson that is optimal for him/her at that moment in time. The puppies will be personality matched with the right owner and family. Considerations will be made with your preference in mind, but at the end of the day we want to ensure that the puppy you go home with will be the best suited for you and your family, and that you will be the best home for that individual puppy as well!
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
