I'm Christi & Alexis C., the breeder behind Afterhours German Wirehaired Pointers and Basset Fauve de Bretagne located in Reddick, FL. We are a family kennel that has bred several AKC Master Hunters, NAVHDA Versatile Champions, over a hundred AKC Show Champions, Best in Show Winners, National & Regional GWPCA Specialty Winners, top-producing sires, hunting companions, and the most wonderful family pets. We strive to breed versatile German Wirehaired Pointers that not only have nice conformation and can work a field but have great personalities. We also believe in health screenings on our breeding dogs to ensure happy healthy puppies.

Why did you start breeding?
Tina and Walt both agreed that with their new breeding program they needed a unique breed that was versatile in both the conformation ring and would excel in the field. After months of research, they decided the German Wirehaired Pointer was the ultimate breed. After acquiring their first GWP they fell in love with the breed. Since that time they have accomplished more than they ever anticipated. Throughout the years, Walt and Tina Whitmore are proud breeders of the top field and show GWP's, including NAVHDA UT Prize 1 (perfect score), multiple Best in Show dogs, many National and Regional Specialty winners, Master Hunters, Superior ROM's, and Top Producing Sires and Dams. Currently, Afterhours has the most CHIC'd GWP’s. CHIC means completed and passed all health screenings that are recommended by the GWPCA (German Wirehaired Pointer Club Of America). Christi Schoessow Chism is the daughter of Tina Whitmore. She also shared the love of the breed with her parents. At a very young age, she traveled throughout the United States successfully competing against adults. When Christi got married she moved to Florida and started her family. When she moved to Florida she continued the legacy of Afterhours Kennels. She has three children Alexis, Allison, and Madison. At the age of 7, Alexis chose her GWP Cutie, they successfully competed against the top professionals.What makes your program special?
Afterhours is dedicated to breeding beautiful purebred dogs whose appearance, temperament, ability, and health are true to the German Wirehaired Pointer. We are recognized by the American Kennel Club as a Breeder of Merit, along as AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T. Both Afterhours GWP and our Junior Handler Allison Chism have been recognized as Breeder/Junior Handler Spotlight by the American Kennel Club.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Basset Fauve de Bretagne puppies are red wheaten. German Wirehaired Pointer puppies include liver and white and liver. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

About Mercy
Mercy is everything we love to see in a GWP. She finished her AKC Championship with all majors and was GWPCA National Reserve Winners Bitch, which really speaks to her overall quality. In the field, she earned her Master Hunter title with ease and also passed her water test easily, she truly loves the water and has a very natural retrieve. Mercy is CHIC certified with all health testing completed and passed. It’s very important that the health testing is done before breeding to ensure the healthiest puppies are produced to improve the breed. She’s a versatile, honest dog that shows up the same way every time you take her out. Mercy is biddable, level-headed, and works well for just about anyone, which makes her a great partner whether you’re training or hunting. At home, she’s just as enjoyable. She has a great off switch, settles easily, and is happiest hanging out in bed or going on hikes. Mercy has a fantastic temperament and is the kind of dog you can take anywhere.

About Ork
Ork is a Serbian import who brings a strong, proven background both overseas and here in the U.S. He is CHIC certified with all health testing completed and passed, in addition to full testing completed in Serbia with passing results. He made an immediate impression in the show ring, picking up his first major his very first weekend out. He finished very quickly, winning amongst strong competition. In the field, Ork proved himself just as quickly, earning his Master Hunter title in a short amount of time with consistently high scores, and passing his water test with ease. He is also one of the few German Wirehaired Pointers to earn the GWPCA Versatility Superior Award, highlighting his true dual-purpose ability. Before coming to the U.S., Ork was heavily tested overseas, and that solid foundation shows in everything he does. What we appreciate most, though, is what he consistently produces… Puppies with excellent temperaments, natural ability, and a high level of biddability. He stamps his offspring in a way that’s hard to overlook.
