I'm Alyssa M., the breeder behind Agape Standard Poodles located in Corpus Christi, TX. Agape Standard Poodles is a family-run breeding program. We primarily breed for service, therapy, and performance prospects. We are very selective in the parent pairing we choose. Temperament, health, and bloodlines play a large role in that selection.
Q. & A. with Alyssa
Why did you start breeding?
I have been breeding Standard Poodles for over 15 years. It began with my foundation bitch who was an AKC champion. I learned I loved performance events and strive to create a dog who can be your loyal couch potato one minute and avid competition buddy the next. Agility, obedience, hunt trial are just a few of the arenas our dogs enjoy. We focus more now on service work and have placed several puppies in service homes.
Our dogs are inside with us and not in a kennel. They are a part of our family, traveling with us and exploring the world together. We have young children and our dogs are their biggest protectors and buddies. The Standard Poodle is a breed I fell in love with and am happy to share my family with them.
What makes your program special?
By only having a few dogs in our home, we can avoid having a kennel setting, and feel that we are able to give each dog the attention and love they need in a one on one basis. We breed for service, therapy, performance and companions. We are very selective in the parent pairing we choose; temperament, health, and bloodline play a large role in this decision.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
