Q. & A. with Donna
Why did you start breeding?
After bringing home a pup anxious about baths, grooming, and nail trims, I became passionate about raising confident puppies. I emphasize early exposure to sights, sounds, people, children, crate training, potty training, and basic manners. I monitor each puppy’s progress and tailor care to their needs, nurturing well‑adjusted pups eager to thrive in loving homes.
What makes your program special?
We breed happy, confident puppies using Puppy Culture protocols. For 12 weeks in our nurturing home, each pup receives gentle handling and early exposure to sights, sounds, people, and children, along with grooming familiarization, potty and crate training, and basic manners. We monitor progress and tailor care to produce outgoing, ready‑to‑thrive companions, with personalized care.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Such a sweet picture! You see sunny in the slide, poet to the right of her, then Tito, Sky and violet up front. Jasper wanted his own space and is sleeping in the corner you can’t see. Though they have 3 beds, they are often seen making a dog pile.

Working with Donna at AKC Northwest was fantastic—communication was excellent, and she was always available for questions. She gave us super helpful info to get started with our new puppy, Oreo, and even sent us home with a thoughtful care package (food, toys, treats, and yes—a toothbrush!). Oreo settled in right away and came crate- and potty-trained. He’s been a joy—playful in the backyard and a total cuddle bug inside. We’re so grateful and wholeheartedly recommend Donna!

I had the most wonderful experience working with Donna when getting our Miniature Schnauzer, Poet. From the very beginning, she was incredibly communicative and responsive. Whenever I was excited and wanted to share pictures with my daughters, she always sent them right away. She even started calling him by his name before he officially came home with us, which made the whole process so personal and special.
Donna shared videos of Poet as he began potty training and interacting with both his littermates and with her, so by the time he joined our family I already had a sense of his personality and behavior. That made the transition seamless.
Poet now comes with me every day to work, where I manage a memory care community, and I am constantly complimented not only on how beautiful he is (people often say he doesn’t even look real!) but also on how incredibly well-behaved he is. That is such a testament to the loving care and thoughtful breeding he received before coming to us.
Pickup was easy, informative, and reassuring. I would absolutely recommend Donna and her wonderfully bred and cared-for Miniature Schnauzers to anyone looking for a healthy, happy, and exceptionally well-raised puppy. She truly goes above and beyond.

Donna made it easy for us to pick up our puppy by meeting us half way. She set us up for success by adding his food, toys, blanket and anything else we needed. Charlie is a well socialize and not afraid of much. She had litter box trained him, but we have him going out a dog door! I can't say enough about Charlie...he's perfect. We got Charlie at about 11 weeks old and I think that made him more secure. Thanks, Donna for our new addition to our family, we love him! Highly recommend Donna, she cares about her dogs.

Donna was amazing throughout the entire process and I am so satisfied with my baby boy! Donna was nice enough to FaceTime me so I could see all of the puppies, she answered all of my questions, and met me at the airport for delivery. Donna provided me with a beautiful puppy starter bag to ensure I had everything I needed to get started. I am very thankful to have found Donna and my forever puppy Sire!

Donna was absolutely fantastic through the entire process. She was communicative and responsive and shared lots of photos and videos while we were waiting for our puppy to be ready. We loved meeting our pup before bringing her home. Vesper has been with us for a couple of weeks now and it's clear how much heavy lifting Donna did before sending her off. She is super chill, healthy, happy, and calm about meeting people. We're thrilled to have a new furry family member. Thanks Donna!

Donna was super helpful in preparing to pick up or pup. She had already started training her and began using the name that we had chosen to work on name recognition.
