Q. & A. with Fred
Why did you start breeding?
As a red blooded Kansas born and bred farm kid I always had a dog hanging around beside me! It was a natural progression that as time went on and while searching for a new best friend I seen my first Akita. That dog was the most beautiful animal I had ever laid my eyes on and the quest for my first Akita began! That quest brought home my first Akita in 1990 CH Cruz. The rest as they say is History.
What makes your program special?
I love this breed and I hope that by selective breeding and careful planning and studying of genetics, I can improve upon it. I never do a breeding out of convenience or use a stud dog because he is easily accessible. If the right dog for my breeding program is across the country or even in another country I will do whatever it takes to make it happen or I won't do that breeding. Simple as that!
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
