I'm Cameron H., the breeder behind Alfalfa Lane Adventures located in Phillips, WI. I put my heart into raising dogs that are healthy, happy, and full of love. My goal is to bring out the very best in each breed by focusing on good health, a gentle temperament, and natural beauty. Every puppy grows up surrounded by care and attention so they can become smart, affectionate companions who fit right into family life.
For me, breeding isn’t just about looks. It’s about raising loyal friends who will bring joy, comfort, and laughter to their new homes. From choosing the right parents to giving each litter a loving start, I do everything I can to make sure every puppy is ready for a lifetime of love and happiness.
Q. & A. with Cameron
Why did you start breeding?
We have always admired the amazing personalities of Golden Retrievers and wanted to be able to offer high quality, genetically tested puppies to families looking to add that next addition to their home.
What makes your program special?
Our puppies are raised in the home and socialized with humans, dogs and other animals throughout their time with us. All of our dogs are vaccinated, health tested and up to date on all health care. Having worked in the veterinary field for over 6 years, we know how important preventative care is for the well-being of our pets!
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include golden and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

About Jolene
Jolene is the true representation of the Golden Retriever — the sweetest, most gentle girl you could ever meet.
She’s happiest being our emotional support blanket on the couch, staying close by our sides, and soaking up love from anyone who calls her a “pretty girl.” Jolene’s playful personality shines through when she’s chasing her tail or making us laugh with her silly antics. She gets along wonderfully with our other dogs and every dog she meets.
Truly made of sugar, Jolene might just melt if she doesn’t get enough love and attention. Her light golden coat and big, soulful brown eyes make her every bit as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside.
Jolene comes from a pedigree line of champions and has been health-tested to the highest standards. She is CHIC certified, meaning she has been screened for all diseases recommended by the Golden Retriever parent club, with results publicly available in the OFA database. Additionally, she has undergone PennHIP testing, which estimates the risk of developing hip osteoarthritis later in life. Jolene scored well within the mild risk category — performing better than the average Golden Retriever tested.
Jolene embodies everything we love about this breed: beauty, intelligence, affection, and a heart full of gold.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Great level
Alfalfa Lane Adventures reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Golden Retrievers.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type, Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 5 (NCL5), Golden Retriever Type, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), DNA Disease Panel, PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
