Meet the breeder

I'm Samantha D., the breeder behind Altamaha Mud Poodles LLC. located in Jesup, GA.

Q. & A. with Samantha

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started out breeding show goats with my children when they were growing up. Once they were almost grown, I went on to get an AKC Dashound puppy named Muffin, and I bred her once or twice. Then the time flew by, and when. Then, the next thing I knew, my kids were grown, had moved out of my home, and even had children of their own now. My two dashounds were now growing very old together; one of them, the momma, was in her early 20s, and her daughter was now 18 years old. They both developed health issues and had to be put down within a few months of each other. After that, it was several years before I even thought about holding onto another pup. And then came a cute little chocolate-colored standard poodle puppy picture on a Facebook post, needing to be adopted. I spent the next couple of days researching standards. Wow, they are absolutely amazing dogs 😮😀 So, the next thing I know, I gather my mom, daughter, and grandsons, and off we drive a few hours away to buy this sweet little puppy. That's where it all began!!
  • What makes your program special?

Our puppies are carefully nurtured from birth to ensure they become well-adjusted family companions. They are whelped and raised within our home, receiving continuous care until they are ready to join their new families. During this formative period, they undergo comprehensive socialization with our household, resident pets, and an extended network of trusted individuals. Our puppies benefit from consistent daily interaction and are exposed to stimulating early learning experiences from the moment they are born.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include apricot, black, brown, cafe au lait, cream, red, and phantom. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
