Meet the breeder

I'm Karen A., the breeder behind Amberidge Golden Retrievers located in Ennis, TX. We take pride in the time and dedication we give to every litter. Our dogs are family and we take them with us on outings and vacations. We train and show in AKC events. Our puppies are guaranteed to be healthy and free from genetic abnormalities.

Q. & A. with Karen

  • Why did you start breeding?

We previously owned Shetland sheepdogs and border collies. After meeting an English Cream Golden we knew we had to have one. Their sweet calm personalities and fun loving spirits and eager to please attitudes make them perfect for families with children. They are loyal and easy to train.
  • What makes your program special?

Our girls are family. We have our dogs tested for all genetic issues. We only breed dogs with outstanding temperaments that will make them calm, loving members of your family. We are currently training our girls for therapy work and hunting/scent/retrieving. Puppies will be started with some basic obedience and manners before going to new homes. We want their new families to enjoy them as much as we enjoy ours. We fully guarantee our pups and will take them back at any time if family situation necessitates. We also offer lifetime boarding for our babies. We would love to have them come visit us.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Karen was the best!! She was quick to respond, even after I brought my puppy home! Teddy, from bear and abby’s litter, is the smartest, well-tempered, most lovable dog ever. He never skipped a beat when I got him and was prepared to be with me! He is the best puppy I have ever been around and the smartest. Within the first day I had him, he understood most commands and still learns more everyday. I would recommend Karen again and again for the best family dog or best companion ever!

My new puppy is adorable and an absolute delight. Karen is amazing to work with and both of them have exceeded my expectations. Karen is very patient and answering all my questions and giving me updates on April. To make the transition easier, she brought a baby blanket with the mother’s scent on it as well as a favorite snuggle toy. I was concerned April would have a problem transitioning, but within an hour at my house you would have thought that she had always lived here thanks to the socialization Karen did before I got her!

It was such a wonderful experience purchasing our first puppy with Karen. We got a boy from “Bailey’s” litter. We did extensive research and had an instant connection with Karen from the first day we reached out to her compared to other breeders. Karen was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process. Karen would send pictures, videos, and updates on our puppy’s journey leading up to our pick up date. Our puppy was up to date on all his shots, as promised, and was cleared as perfectly healthy when we took him to his first vet visit. Our golden has been absolutely amazing! He’s sweet, gentle, patient, and easy to train. We have three kids and our golden is amazing with them. Karen was great with handling the pups and getting them ready to come to their forever homes. He was even potty trained. We were so pleased with our first puppy and our experience with Karen, that we purchased a second puppy through them one year later. This time we got a boy from “Abby‘s” litter. He’s very smart, cuddly, loving, playful and training perfectly. Very good with our kids and other dogs as well. We highly recommend this breeder if you’re looking for a family dog or a smart loving companion.
