Breeder of Poodles

Meet the breeder

I'm Jillian E., the breeder behind APAW Poodles located in Westminster, MA. We breed small Standards with smart, biddable, driven temperaments, good structure, health, and high genetic diversity. Our dogs excel as active companions and working partners in roles ranging from performance sports to disability assistance to search and rescue. We value genetic diversity, complete health tests beyond CHIC requirements, and participate in UKC conformation and performance sports with our breeding dogs.

Q. & A. with Jillian

  • Why did you start breeding?

I knew from the time I was a teenager that I wanted to breed Standard Poodles. I joined 4-H and started competing with my pet Poodle, and at 16 was offered co-ownership on my first show-quality Poodle. Beyond his success in conformation and rally we provided many years of weekly therapy visits. I got a female Standard and eventually bred my first litter in 2010.
  • What makes your program special?

I selected my foundation dogs for temperament characteristics which are needed in service dog work - smart, biddable, confident, with strong work ethic and strong food and social motivations. Over the years I've aimed for average and smaller size, and both stronger and softer drives, so I now produce dogs suitable for many roles. Conformation, health and genetic diversity are also critical to me.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include moyen and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include apricot, black, blue, cafe au lait, cream, silver, and silver-beige. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
