I'm Kristi J., the breeder behind Ashgrove Farm located in Berlin, WI. We focus on health, temperament and companionship, with the bonus of a herding ability for those who want to herd livestock and poultry with their puppy. We believe in giving the puppies the best possible start, with lots of socialization and hands-on attention and love.

Why did you start breeding?
We got our first OTSC in 2014 and then thought about breeding him. We finally found a female that we liked, but then genetic testing showed that the male had 2 copies of the CEA gene, so we had to locate a different male to use. That search took awhile, but we learned a lot. Seeing the joy that the puppies bring to people's lives is what encouraged us to raise another litter.What makes your program special?
Hands on, attention to detail. Focus on health, genetic testing, searching for bloodlines noted for herding ability and a loving disposition in our dogs. Giving the puppies the proper start in life is of utmost importance.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable merle and white, sable and white, and black white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
Getting a puppy from Kristi
Kristi has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
Kristi partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.
“Once we can evaluate temperaments and energy level, we take that into consideration as well as future use and color preferences and try to match each puppy to the proper home.”
Price
“The price includes the guarantee, deworming every 2 weeks, vaccination every 3 weeks starting at 8 weeks, heartworm and flea and tick prevention, microchipping, free starter bag of Sci. Diet Puppy. All of our puppies are the same price regardless of sex, color or size. The deposit holds that puppy so that we won't sell it to anyone else. It is deducted from the total price.”

Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Vet Wellness Exam
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
