Meet the breeder

I'm Ashley Y., the breeder behind ATW Retrievers located in Murfreesboro, TN. Our dogs are bred for health, temperament, and intelligence. We strive to produce the best overall pets and family members. We give our dogs the best lives possible. We are looking for families and individuals that will provide our puppies with the same level of love and care.

Q. & A. with Ashley

  • Why did you start breeding?

My dear Winston had complications his entire life. He was from a championship line, and came from a loving home. But proper health testing was never done. After I lost him it felt like part my soul disappeared. That is why I started my kennel. In hopes of providing healthy loving pets to wonderful families. Hopes to better the breed standards.
  • What makes your program special?

We are currently working with Veterans Affairs to start a non profit that will raise funds specifically to train some of our puppies to be matched and donated directly to veterans in need of service animals. A portion of the proceeds from every puppy we sale will be set aside for sending other dogs from our litters to service dog training. website will be done soon.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include golden and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

When my wife and I started looking for a breeder, we weren’t just trying to find a puppy, we were trying to find the right fit for our family. We spent a lot of time researching and being intentional about the process because we knew how important those early foundations are. That search led us to Ashley at ATW Retrievers on GoodDog, and from the very beginning, the experience felt different in the best way. Before pickup day, Ashley really took the time to get to know us. We had phone calls, exchanged messages, and even did FaceTime so she could understand what we were looking for and so we could get to know her as well. It never felt rushed or transactional, it felt like she genuinely wanted to make sure we were matched with the right pup, not just any pup. When we finally met the puppies, everything clicked. They were confident, well-socialized, and clearly raised with care and attention. You could tell they had been given a great start, which made us feel even better about the process. Since bringing Max home, that foundation has really shown. He’s incredibly smart, loving, and has such a great temperament. He’s the kind of dog that fits right into your life and quickly becomes part of everything you do. What also stood out to us is that Ashley’s support didn’t stop after pickup. She’s continued to be available and helpful, which says a lot about the kind of breeder she is and how much she truly cares. Looking back, we’re really grateful we found Ashley through GoodDog. The whole experience, from getting to know each other beforehand to bringing Max home, felt thoughtful and intentional. We didn’t just get a dog, we got the right dog for us.

Ashley was wonderful. she kept me up to date as the puppies grew. I got my little Annie from her and she is such a sweet and smart girl. As a bonus, she has been very easy to house train. I am definitely coming back to Ashley in a few years for my next Golden puppy. It feels good to get a puppy from someone who takes such good care of them.

We are so grateful for Ashley at ATW Retrievers! Ashley went far and beyond to help us find my daughter’s furever buddy that will grow beside her as her future service dog. Ashley was quick to answer questions, send pictures, share her knowledge and help accommodate a visit with my daughter’s powerchair, so we could visit with the pups to see how they would react. All the pups are clearly loved, well taken care for and socialized, because they were not afraid of her chair and were curious and friendly. We have been waiting for years for the right person to help us find the right dog at the right time and Ashley was that person! Ashley and her family loved our little Finn, so we could call him ours and love him for furever. We are so grateful to Ashley, and Finn is incredible. We are so in love and we wholeheartedly recommend ATW Retrievers. We are forever grateful!

Ashley was incredible. I wouldn’t get a puppy from anyone else. Her level of care and attention to detail is second to none. As first time golden puppy owners, we had a lot of questions. Ashely always made time to speak with us on the phone, not just responding to messages. She was also amazing about responding to our questions with answers that didn’t make us feel stupid or like we might not be ready for a puppy. She would tell us what she preferred, what was available, and what led her to make her decisions about topics we were wading through and trying to decide on. She puts her whole heart into raising the puppies and understandably wanted to know who we were and how we would be caring for our dog moving forward. We’re so glad we met Ashley and that we were able to find our best friend with her help.

We got our male puppy “Murphy” about 1 week ago. He is a true love. He is also learning quickly. Potty training, come, sit, and stay are progressing nicely. Our experience has been really great thus far. Couldn’t be happier
