Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind B3 Kennels located in Putney, VT. I have a small breeding program out of my home in Southern Vermont. My dogs are part of the family, & it’s a top priority to place any puppy in a home where they will receive proper care, engagement, nutrition, exercise, & love!

Q. & A. with Yuri

  • Why did you start breeding?

Great Danes have brought so much joy into my life. I want to bring some of that joy to others. I realized a few years back that one way I could do that would be to breed healthy Danes that meet or exceed the breed standard, then find them excellent homes within the community.
  • What makes your program special?

While my dogs are show quality, I am primarily breeding for pet families. I don’t encourage ear cropping, or mutilation of any kind for that matter. My puppies are raised in my home with constant interaction with myself, my young nieces, the family cat, & any other animals that I can expose them to. They grow up hearing the sounds of an active household. Socialization is crucial & starts at birth!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing

Great level

B3 Kennels reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Great Danes.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
