Meet the breeder

I'm Heather N., the breeder behind Bear Pond Retrievers located in Turner, ME. We breed quality Goldens and Labs. Our goal is to produce a great representation of these breeds and continue improving their lines. We do health and genetic testing to ensure the longevity and quality of the puppies we produce. We also enjoy educating our buyers so that the puppies will continue to stay healthy. Communication is important to us, and we are happy to offer lifetime breeder support.

Q. & A. with Heather

  • Why did you start breeding?

We wanted to do our part to better these breeds. Our breeding program strives to maintain the unique characteristics of the breed while placing an emphasis on producing Goldens and Labs of superior health, temperament, and conformation. We are passionate about preparing our puppies to thrive in their forever homes and enjoy mentoring their new families so that they can raise their new, furry companions with confidence and joy.
  • What makes your program special?

In our breeding program, we promise that you will be matched with the happiest, healthiest companion that we can provide you. Our dogs have hip, heart, and eye clearances from licensed veterinarians, cardiologists, and ophthalmologists, and are also certified by OFA and Penn Hip. Many of our puppies have become competent bird dogs, but all of them have become great family dogs and lifelong friends. We look forward to connecting with you!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Golden Retriever puppies include golden and light golden. Labrador Retriever puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
